The Committee Investigating Intercountry Adoption (CIIA): Overview of its findings and critical discussion of current government policies in the Netherlands

In this presentation we give an overview of the main findings of the CIIA (Joustra committee) and scrutinize the subsequent policy response by the Dutch government. We argue that the government’s decisions amount to the continuation of a flawed policy that risks creating similar problems for adoptees, birth family members and (adoption)parents as those encountered in past.
